Welcome!

Throughout my childhood my family was always on the go! Moving every four or five years meant I always spent my summers traveling to visit family, which sparked in me a desire to travel. Being born in Oregon, with much of my family in the Pacific Northwest, I returned as an undergraduate to pursue a degree in Spanish in the Fall of 2005. Before I knew it, I was on a plane to Europe to spend a year completing my course requirements in Granada, Spain and Ferrara, Italy. My time in both countries was filled with irreplaceable experiences, but Spain immediately captivated me and still holds a special place in my heart; Granada will always feel like a second home. I earned my degree in 2009, and in 2010 I returned to my schooling to complete a Master's Degree in Spanish Literature at the University of Arizona. I then immediately began my Ph.D. at the University of Colorado, Boulder. After completing a second Master's Degree in Teaching Spanish Language and Culture to Non-native Speakers at the University of Granada, Spain (2017), I successfully defended my dissertation in May of 2017, and enjoyed the special honor of being hooded at commencement by my father. My research work focuses on the theoretical, historical, political and scenographic circumstances of the theater produced in and represented in the Royal Court of Carlos II of Spain, the last Habsburg monarch.
My teaching has been the most rewarding part of this adventure. While I hope to impart knowledge about a vast world right outside these students' front door, they continually return the favor by demonstrating fascinating and innovative critical thinking skills that fuel our class discussions and push their peers to think outside their campus community. To see a list of courses I have taught, including the ones in which the implementation of Second Life was utilized, please see the my Courses Taught page.
